Obituary: FINAL RITE HELD FOR L. E. CLEAR 77, MONDAY. Funeral services for Louis Emorel Clear 77, of Waterloo, were conducted at 3p.m. Monday at the E.U.B.n Waterloo with the Rev. Norman Detroy, pastor , officiating. Burial followed in the cemetery. Mr. Clear died at his home here at 10:15 a.m. Saturday after suffering a series of strokes of parallysis. He had been ill about two weeks. He was born at Grover Hill Ohio, on Dec. 7 1880. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joel Clear. On Jan .1,1902 ,he and Flossie Richards were married at Grover Hill. Mr. Clear had resided in Waterloo since 1944.
He was a retired farmer and employee of the highway deptment and an employee at the Waterloo cemetery. Survivors include the widow; five daughters, Mrs. May Henderson of Waterloo, Mrs. Ruby Mell of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Irene Chadwick of near Ashley, and Mrs. Lela Schmidt of R 2 Waterloo; two sons Jasper Clear of Butler and Don E Clear of Waterloo; 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Mr. Clear was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge and the Pythian Sisters of Waterloo. The body was moved to Graffis funeral home at Waterloo before being taken to the church at noon Monday. Burial March 17, 1958 Waterloo Cemetery, DeKalb Co. IN

Obituary: FLOSSIE MAY CLEAR DIES IN GARRETT HOSPITAL. A resident of Waterloo since 1944 Flossie May Clear, 81, passed away in the Garrett Community Hospital at 9:45 a.m. Aug 23 following an illness of 3 weeks. Mrs. Clear was born Sept. 9, 1886 in Allen county Ohio, a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Ela King Richards. She was the widow of Louis E. Clear , who died March 15, 1958. The couple were married Jan 1, 1902 , in Grover Hill, Ohio. The late address is 735 E. Marion street, Waterloo. Surviving are four daughters, Mae Henderson, Waterloo, Ruby Mell, Detroit, Irene Chadwick, Ashley and Lela Schmidt, Rt. 2 Waterloo; two sons , Jasper of Butler and Don of Waterloo; a brother , C.E. Richards of Lima, Ohio, Three sisters, Eliza Clear of Montgomery, Ind.,Rose Cavinder of Bellevue, Mich. and Gladys Hillborn of Ionia,Mich.; 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren Services were held at 2p.m. Sunday in the First United Methodist church in Waterloo. Rev. C. Samuel Overmyer officiated. Burial followed in the Waterloo cementery. The Graffis funeral home in Waterloo were in charge of the arrangements.
