Notes: Enlisted in the Army June 23, 1917 at Ottawa, Ohio. Went in training July 15,1917 was in Ottwa until the last of Sept. or the first of Oct. 1917, went to Montgomery, Alabama, from there to Camp Lee, Virginia, from there to France. He was 21 years old on the boat coming home, Discharged April 13, 1919.
Thursday, June 25, 1953: Curtis Hendreson attended the reunion of Company M 146th Regiment of World War I at Ottawa, Ohio, Sunday. About 65 buddies and their wives and their captian of Mansfield, Ohio enjoyed a dinner at noon. The orginal order that the captian gave Curtis to carry under fire to the front lines in Germany for the troops to cease fire, that the armistice was to be signed is still in the officers possiession but is to be given to Curtis to retain for his memors. (Aunt Kate said Curt hit the ground 22 times in the process of delivering the message to avoid being hit by fire.) Curt enlisted in the army at 19, he turned 21 on the water coming home from overseas.
Obituary: CURTIS R. HENDERSON- 57, DIES AT VET, HOSPITAL . Funeral services were held Tuesday a 2 p.m. at the Ettinger funeral home for Curtis Henderson, 57 who died at the Veterans hospital Fort Wayne Saturday Jan. 28. Mr. Henderson , a resident of here for the past 21 yrs. had been confined at the hospital for 12 days prior to his death. Rev. P.L. Mast pastor of the St. Paul E.U.B. church officiated and burial was in the Big Run cemetery east of Butler. Mr. Henderson was born March 27, 1898 in Putman  C ounty Ohio. son of the late John and Tillie McGill Henderson. He married Flora May Clear Oct.3 1919 at Kieferville,OH. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are the widow: four sons Dale, Alvin, and Glen Henderson ,all residents of here and Gerald Henderson , Pleasant Lake; two daughters; Mrs John Willard, Butler ,and Sylvia at home; Three brothers, Lloyd Henderson ,Angola, Ray of Montgomery Mich, and John Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mrs Ralph Niman Garrett and Mrs. Wayne Kline, Waterloo; and 16 grandchildren
