• According to the Marriage Records of Preble County,Ohio, Book A, 1808-1842, Page 311, the marriage vows of Joel and Margaret were read by Justice of the Peace Isaac Stephens.
• Joel and Margaret were living in the Washigton Township of Preble County in 1840. Joel died in 1849 before his son, Leven L., was born. In An Index For Ohio Wills And Estates to 1850, one for Joel Clear is listed as E-1849 Preb. C1421. His death is also verified in a newspaper obituary.

• In the 1860 Census, page 135, Margaret Clear, 40 years, born in Tennessee, was living in Washigton Township, Preble County.
• At age 56, Margaret married Franklin Warner, October 1, 1874, in a ceremony performed by Rev. J.F.Marly. The listing of their marriage appeared in the Eaton Democrat on October 10, 1874.
• In the 1880 US Census, Margaret is listed as living in Eaton, Preble Co., OH, age 63, a widow, with both parents born in Virginia.
