Obituary: Betty Jean Rhodenbaugh, 90, of Van Wert, died at 5:38 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at Van Wert County Hospital. She was born March 13, 1920, in Delphos, the daughter of the late William Henry and Naomi Caroline (Clear) Martin. She married Dallas Rhodenbaugh on July 29, 1939. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1994. Mrs. Rhodenbaugh was a Nursing assistant at former Castle Convalescent Home of Van Wert. Survivors include two children, Dorothy Cope of Enon, OH, and Mark Rhodenbaugh of Van Wert, OH; two grandchildren, Ben Kinney of Hawaii and Esther Mills of Beavercreek, OH; five great-grandchildren, Max Kinney, Laura-Lei Kinney,and Caroline Kinney all of Hawaii, Liam Mills and Eden Mills both of Beavercreek, OH; a sister, Emma Scott of Van Wert, OH. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Rhodenbaugh; 7 brothers, Clarence, Gar, Earl, Pearl, Harry, Sam, and Chester Martin; 3 sisters, Lilly Shaffer, Tillie Germann, and Mae Halder. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 29, at Brickner Funeral Home, with Charles Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Tomlinson Cemetery in Mercer Co. There will be no calling hours.

She was born on March 13, 1920 in Delphos, Ohio to William Henry & Naomi Caroline (Clear) Martin, both of whom are deceased. She married Dallas Rhodenbaugh on Saturday, July 29, 1939. He preceded her in death. Rhodenbaugh was preceded in death by a son, Charles Rhodenbaugh; seven brothers, Clarence, Gar, Earl, Pearl, Harry, Sam, and Chester Martin; and three sisters, Lilly Shaffer, Tillie Germann, and Mae Halder. She is survived by Dorothy Cope (daughter) of Enon, OH, Mark Rhodenbaugh (son) of Van Wert, OH, Ben Kinney (grand-son) of Hawaii, Esther Mills (grand-daughter) of Beaver Creek, OH,; great-grandchildren Max Kinney, Laura-Lei Kinney,and Caroline Kinney all of Hawaii, Liam Mills and Eden Mills both of Beavercreek, OH, and Emma Scott (sister) of Van Wert, OH. She was employed for many years as a Nursing Assistant at the former Castle Convalescent Home of Van Wert. A funeral service will be held at Brickner Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 with Charles Shepherd officiating. A burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery in Mercer County.
